# Modern Collections > Modern Collections is an AI-native third-party collection agency for unpaid B2B invoices. It charges 5–15% of what it recovers and nothing if nothing is recovered, takes invoices of any size, makes first contact the same day, and shows the creditor every call and email. Creditors can place invoices from the dashboard, the API, or ChatGPT and Claude. ## The company Modern Collections, Inc. is a third-party collection agency for business-to-business invoices, based in Brooklyn, New York. It was incorporated in Delaware on August 3, 2026 (Delaware Division of Corporations file number 10720916; registered agent Resident Agents Inc., Dover). A creditor (a business owed money by another business) places an overdue invoice. AI voice and email agents contact the debtor's accounts payable team under the Modern Collections name. The creditor sees each call, email, dispute and payment on the file, and recovered funds are remitted to the creditor. Consumer debt is not accepted. Who uses it: finance teams (CFOs, controllers, AR managers) with overdue business invoices, and payments, billing and accounting platforms that offer collections to their own customers through the API. Genuine messages name that business, the invoice number, the amount and a reference number. Email comes from collections@moderncollections.io, the callback number is +1 (814) 809-9945, and payment is taken only through the portal at app.moderncollections.io/portal. No setup fee, no monthly minimum, no fee without recovery. For comparison, Kaplan Group publishes 10–25% tiers for US business debt, and Alternative Payments' previous agency charged 25–50%. - No invoice minimum. Small balances are accepted. Kaplan Group's published first-claim minimum is $10,000, and Alternative Payments' previous agency refused most of its small balances. - Speed: same-day first contact after the invoice is placed and the creditor is verified. - Visibility: every call, email, dispute and payment sits on the file for the creditor to read. Alternative Payments' previous agency could not tell its customers what had been said to their debtors. - B2B-first. It is shown once. This server does not mint keys, and a request with no bearer is rejected. Claude.ai and ChatGPT can instead sign in with OAuth: add the MCP endpoint as a custom connector and sign in with the Modern Collections dashboard login. No API key is needed. The commands are modern-collections and modern-collections-mcp. Do not install the PyPI project named mc-api. That package is unrelated. The hosted URL above does not require a local install. ## Upload an invoice Confirm the debtor company and the amount with the user before placing. placement_create starts real email and phone outreach. There is no sandbox on this key. 1. placement_create — company_name, invoice_amount as a decimal string such as "7500.00", invoice_number, invoice_date, due_date. Pass an idempotency_key if you may retry. 2. document_upload — placement_id from that create, the invoice file as content_base64, document_type invoice. 3. document_process on the returned document, then placement_context to read what was extracted. 4. placement_recall stops outreach if the placement was a mistake. Money amounts are decimal strings, not floats.
